In Telangana, the second round of Sero Survey conducted in three districts has revealed that the prevalence of COVID-19 has increased and that a large number of people are still susceptible to the infection.
A Sero-epidemiological survey was conducted in Kamareddy, Jangoan and Naglonda districts of the state by ICMR-National Institute of Nutrition (NIN) for monitoring the transmission of the virus in the general population. The NIN released its report on the second round of survey last evening.
Over 1300 people were randomly selected from 30 villages of these three districts. The survey revealed that 83 persons
out of 454 people, or 18.2 per cent, tested positive for Coronavirus in Jangoan district. This is against 0.5 per cent in the first round survey held during May this year.
In Nalgonda district, 47 out of 422 people, (11.1 per cent) tested positive. In Kamareddy district 30 out of 433 people, (0.9 per cent), have tested positive. In the first round 0.25 per cent people had tested positive in Nalgonda and Kamareddy districts.
The study concluded that the spread of COVID-19 is at a slow pace but a large number of people are still susceptible to the infection.
