Amid rising coronavirus cases in the national capital, a serological survey will be undertaken in Delhi from today. The exercise will be taken up till 10th July.
Serological survey will be conducted in all districts of Delhi in which sample testing will be conducted of 20 thousand persons spanning all sections and ages. It will help in comprehensive assessment of the spread of infection and will help draw up a comprehensive strategy.
It is part of the new COVID-19 response plan prepared as per the recommendations of the committee, headed by NITI Aayog member Dr V K Paul. On the directions of Home Minister Amit Shah, the Committee was constituted on 14th June to submit a report on Containment Strategy on COVID-19 for Delhi.
On Sunday, Mr Shah reviewed Delhi's Covid-19 situation with Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal
and discussed recommendations made by the committee. Dr V K Paul committee has also proposed revised demarcation of containment zones and a strict monitoring and control of activities in such containment zones.
Meanwhile, the State Disaster Management Authority yesterday approved modification of SOP for home isolation for Covid patients to meet the twin objectives of containment of local spread and provision of timely medical care for Covid positive cases to save precious lives.
In a tweet Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal said, Health department will deploy a robust surveillance mechanism. He said, only those COVID positive cases who do not have adequate facilities at home to ensure physical segregation and do not have other medical conditions would require to be shifted to Covid Care centres and other facilities.
