Tamil Nadu continued to witness the decline of fresh covid cases on Tuesday.
The total number of fresh cases was more than 34 thousand.
Over 28 thousand patients were discharged after treatment.
Over three lakh patients are under treatment for the pandemic.
But the State has recorded the highest number of 468 deaths Tuesday.
The State has recorded 181 cases of mucormycosis till now and efforts were on to uproot the disease.
According to Principal health Secretary Dr. Radhakrishnan, all medical colllege hospitals across the State have been asked to keep a separate ward with 45 to 30 beds to treat those affected by the fungal infection.
A multi disciplinary expert medical team comprising ten
members has been formed to identify the reason behind this infection.
Chennai continued to register a little over 4000 fresh cases on Tuesday.
Coimbatore still continues the spike with more than 3600 cases. Chenglepet,Erode,Kanyakumari,Madurai,Thanjavur, Thiruvallur and Tircuhirapalli registered more than thousand cases.
In another development, the Madras High Court has asked the Government to immediately take steps to release women convicts in prison with children below six years of age on parole in view of the pandemic.
The first bench of the Madras High Court consisting of Chief Justice Sanjib Bannerjee and Justice Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy directed the State to take steps to release other prisoners to decongest the prisons to check the spread of Covid 19.
