Tamil Nadu continued to register a declining trend in fresh COVID cases. The number of fresh cases was well below 35 thousand and stood at 33 thousand 764. Over 29 thousand patients were discharged after treatment. More than three lakh 10 thousand people are under treatment for the pandemic. However, the death count was 475 yesterday.
Coimbatore had the maximum of more than four thousand 200 cases whereas Chennai registered 3,561 fresh COVID cases. Chengalpattu, Erode, Kanyakumari, Thiruvallur, Tiruchirapalli and Virudhunagar registered more than thousand cases. Over one lakh 71 thousand samples were tested
yesterday.
According to State Health Minister Ma Subramaniam the State Government will recruit 3,700 health workers and 2,100 doctors to meet the demand.
Efforts are being taken with the Centre to revive the HLL Biotech limited plant for the manufacture of vaccines after ten years. The MPs and MLAs of the Chennai District have donated 20 oxygen regulators to the Greater Chennai Corporation. The Civic body has also called for appointment of more doctors and nurses through walk in interviews on consolidatory salary for a period of one year.
