The second wave of Covid pandemic continued on Sunday with health authorities reporting 2251 cases and six deaths in Telangana.
The health department conducted 79, 027 Covid rapid antigen tests and results of another 2975 samples are awaited.
As on Sunday, the total number of active Covid cases in Telangana has reached 21, 864 out of which 14, 431 individuals are under home and institutional isolation. With six more deaths, the cumulative number of fatalities so far has reached 1765.
Urban centres continued to drive new Covid infections during the ongoing second wave of the pandemic.
On Sunday, 355 new Covid infections from areas under GHMC were reported while another 258 cases were reported from Medchal-Malkajgiri district.
The cases from other districts included 244 from Nizamabad, 200 from Rangareddy, 117 fromJagtiyal and 132 from Sangareddy.
With 2251 new Covid infections, the total number of positive cases since the
pandemic has now reached 3, 29, 529. A total of 565 persons have recovered on Sunday, taking the total recoveries in the State to 3, 05, 900 with a recovery rate of 92.82 percent, while the countrywide recovery rate was 89.9 percent. So far, a total of 1, 10, 68, 003 Covid-19 tests have been conducted in the State.
The Covid-19 positive cases reported from the districts included 77 from Adilabad, 16 from Bhadradri, 355 from areas under GHMC, 117 from Jagtiyal, 17 Jangaon, 18 from Bhupalpally, 15 from Gadwal, 70 from Kamareddy, 78 from Karimnagar, 52 from Khammam, 17 from Asifabad, 53 from Mahabubnagar, 13 from Mahabubabad, 41 from Mancherial, 27 from Medak, 258 from Medchal Malkajgiri, seven from Mulugu, 23 from Nagarkurnool, 31 from Nalgonda, 12 from Narayanpet, 84 from Nirmal, 244 from Nizamabad, 20 from Peddapalli, 35 from Siricilla, 200 from Rangareddy, 132 from Sangareddy, 57 from Siddipet, 32 from Suryapet, 36 from Vikarabad, 26 from Wanaparthy, 16 from Warangal Rural, 57 from Warangal Urban and 15 from Yadadri.
