Bangkok: In Thailand, the first case of coronavirus infections from the Omicron variant has been detected in Kalasin province of the northeastern part of the country. Thailand's COVID-19 taskforce spokeswoman Apisamai Srirangsan has said that 21 new infections have been found in Kalasin province. She said, the infections stem from a
couple who travelled from Belgium through Thailand's Test & Go scheme that waived quarantine for vaccinated arrivals.
The announcement comes as Thailand’s capital city Bangkok cancelled government-sponsored New Year activity, including midnight prayers.
