The Union Territory of Ladakh has seen a spike in the number of COVID-19 positive cases. Total 104 active cases including 35 cases in Leh and 69 cases in Kargil have put the UT Administration on high vigil and extraordinary measures to contain the spread of the virus and for treatment of the affected.

Secretary Commissioner Rigzin Samphel said, under COVID Care Centres programme, 100 beds to meet any demand in each district of Leh and Kargil will be increased.
Looking at the trend in the spike of cases and the risk perception the Advisor to Lieutenant Governor Umang Narula has issued orders classifying Leh and Kargil districts as Red Zones. With the change in classification only the permitted activities will be allowed.
