In Tamil Nadu, the total COVID-19 infection crossed one lakh seventy thousand yesterday with the confirmation of 4979 new cases. Prime Minister Narendra Modi called up the State Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswamy yesterday and inquired about the ground situation.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to the State Chief Minister comes in the backdrop of a surge in new cases in the districts outside Chennai. The Chief Minister
has claimed that maximum tests are being done in the state consistently. The new Covid-19 cases include three members of the state legislative Assembly, taking the total infected MLAs to sixteen.
Meanwhile, the state health department has said funding would not be a hindrance for the treatment and the preventive activities against the pandemic in the state.
