No. of active cases of Covid-19 in Maharashtra reached to 38,939. State has reported 2,598 new corona virus patients, taking the tally of cases in the state to 59,546.

With 85 COVID-19 patients dying, 38 of them in Mumbai, the death toll due to the pandemic rose to 1,982. 37 deaths took place in the last two days while other 48 fatalities have occurred between May 15 and May 25.

A total of 698 corona virus patients were discharged yesterday, taking the number of recovered persons in the state to 18,616.

The tally of COVID-19 cases in Mumbai crossed the 35,000-mark with the addition of 1,438 new infections, while the death toll rose above 1,100.

The count of corona virus cases in Dharavi in Mumbai rose to 1,675 yesterday as 36 more people tested positive for the infection. No death due to COVID-19 is reported in this slum-dominated area since Wednesday



evening.
 
In neighboring Thane, Municipal Transport Committee buses and school buses have been converted into ambulances in order to avoid shortage of ambulances to take Covid-19 patients to the hospital.

A total of 81 such buses have been introduced in the service. The ambulance drivers and attendants have been provided PPE kits for safety.

Konkan Railway has operated over 50 Shramik Special trains to ferry stranded migrant labourers from Maharashtra, Goa and Karnataka since the services began on first of May.

It has so far transported 68,759 migrants back to their home states on 51 Shramik Special trains.

Similarly, Mumbai airport has operated 52 flights, including 26 outbound services, catering to more than 5,500 passengers on the fourth day of resumption of domestic air services after a two-month break.
