COVID-19 cases, India reports 212 new cases, 2 new deaths after a week into the new year

New Delhi: On Sunday nation reported 212 new cases of coronavirus with two  deaths, as per the data on the website of the Central Health Ministry. With this, the current number of active cases in India stands at 2509.

Additionally, a week into the new year, 204 people were discharged and two new deaths were reported due to the



infection in the past 24 hours. With this, the recovery rate continues to be at 98.81 per cent while the active cases were 0.01 per cent.

The coronavirus pandemic kicked off in 2020 and the vaccination drive for the infection started in January 2021. Approximately 57,000 more doses of vaccination were administered as on January 8 for the infection.
