The Union Health Ministry has said that India has registered a significant decline in the maternal and infant mortality rate and it will achieve the target of Sustainable Development Goals before the deadline of 2030.
On the occasion of World Health Day, Additional Secretary and Mission Director of National Health Mission in Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Vikas Sheel said, the government is working to eradicate communicable diseases in a systematic manner. He said, India has registered a decline of 85 percent in the number of Malaria cases in the last four years.
Talking about the expansion of telemedicine facility e-Sanjeevani, Mr. Sheel said, efforts are being made to
provide this facility in the Health and Wellness centres. He said, funds have been provided to the States and Union Territories and work is being done to create teleconsultation or telemedicine hubs at the district level.
Mr. Sheel said, four mission mode projects - Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission, Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness Centres, Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, and Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission have played an important role in addressing the critical aspects related to Universal Health Coverage. He said, over three crore people have benefited from Ayushman Bharat - Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana so far.
