In today’s time where almost every disease has a cure in the form of a vaccine, there are still some people who shy away from vaccines. Be it their inhibitions or misconceptions, these people choose to stay away from vaccinations. This not only leaves them prone to diseases but also pose a threat to society in general. Vaccines have helped in combating life-threatening diseases all over the world and are proven to be safe and secure for usage.

Few myths about vaccinations that need to be busted right away.

According to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, only about 1% to 5% of children who are vaccinated fail to develop immunity and are likely to catch the disease, if exposed to it. In rarest of the rare cases, a child might catch a disease prior to the vaccination process and can develop the disease post vaccine.

Vaccines are meant to prevent a disease and not cause them. Thus, this myth is a total misconception.

The link between autism and vaccines originated back in 1997, when Andrew Wakefield, a British surgeon published a study which connected the two. The study was later discarded, and Wakefield even lost his license.

The news spread like wildfire and created

panic amongst the masses who boycotted vaccines for the fear of autism. The misconception still exists in some parts of the world, though it is proven untrue. Vaccines are not proven to cause autism and thus, this myth too is a misconception.

Most parents complain that vaccines weaken their child’s immune system and further breaks down his capacity to fight diseases. As silly as it might sound, the reality of the misconception might surprise you.

A baby is capable to take as many as 10,000 vaccines at a time due to the presence of antibodies in him. The immune system can never saturate as the cells are constantly being replenished and vaccines further strengthen it to fight off diseases.

The fear of side effects is another reason for people shying away from vaccines. Many people see it unnatural and fear that the chemicals present in the vaccine might be toxic.

All the vaccines present in the market are lab tested and the ingredients present in them are medically approved, making them safe for human use. Vaccines are manufactured to protect a human body from illness and nothing else. It is highly recommended that you contact a doctor in case of doubts and never miss a vaccination subscribed to you.
