Today is World Arthritis Day. The objective of this day is to raise awareness among people about arthritis, its different forms, early diagnosis, and treatment.
This year the theme of this day is - it is in your hands, take action. Some of the symptoms of arthritis are redness around joints, pain, swelling, and stiffness in joints.
Head of the Department of Rheumatology, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, AIIMS, New Delhi, Dr Uma Kumar said that those having
symptoms of arthritis should consult the doctor for proper treatment. She also suggested that people exercise regularly practice yoga and keep their weight under control for the prevention of arthritis.
Talking about the role of yoga in prevention of arthritis, Dr Rima Dada, Department of Anatomy, AIIMS said that a study conducted by this Institute suggests that yoga can be used as an adjunct therapy in the management of rheumatoid Arthritis.
