The World Health Organisation has said that Corona cases are declining globally but the pandemic is far from over. WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Gebreyesus told media persons that the pandemic will not be over anywhere until it is over everywhere.
He said, the virus continues to evolve, and we continue to face major obstacles in distributing vaccines, tests and treatments everywhere they are needed.
The
global health body also expressed concern that several countries are drastically reducing testing.
UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres also supported the WHO chief's assessment. In a statement, he warned that it would be "a grave mistake" to think the virus was now in the rear-view mirror.
Guterres reiterated that the distribution of vaccines remains "scandalously unequal".
