UP: Voting begins for the fourth phase of the seven-phase Uttar Pradesh assembly election. The electorate of 59 Assembly constituencies in the districts of Pilibhit, Lakhimpur Kheri, Sitapur, Hardoi, Unnao, Lucknow, Rae Bareli, Banda and Fatehpur will decide the fate of 624 candidates.
In 2017, the BJP won 51 of
the 59 constituencies that will go to poll today. The Samajwadi Party had won four while Mayawati’s Bahujan Samaj Party bagged three. Of the districts that will vote today, Lakhimpur Kheri, which saw massive protests after eight people, including four farmers, were killed in clashes during the farmers' protests last October, is a crucial one.
