Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Amit Shah yesterday addressed a public meeting in Katghora town under Korba Lok Sabha constituency of Chhattisgarh. He said that if the Government is formed at the Centre for the third time under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Maoist problem will be eliminated from Chhattisgarh in the next two years.
He alleged that the previous Congress government in the State promoted Maoism in the last five years. But, in the four
months since Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai’s government was formed in the State, ninety-five Maoists have been killed in encounters. While three hundred and fifty Maoists have been arrested. Apart from this, many Maoists have surrendered.
Mr. Shah said that the Congress has always played vote-bank politics. He said that the BJP supports reservation for SCs, STs and OBCs and it will not allow anyone to abolish the SC/ST/OBC quota.
