According to the latest updates, BJP leading in Goa, AAP fails to open account
Results in 40 assembly constituencies of Goa are being declared declared today as the Election Commission of India opened up the Electronic Voting Machines (EVM). 332 candidates are in the fray in the state where the election was held in a single phase on February 14. While the BJP and Congress-GFP fielded 40 candidates each, 39 candidates are in the fray from the Aam Aadmi Party.
The coastal state has been
at the centre of intense political tussle as parties woo independent candidates, who have largely held the key to government formation in the past. In the 2017 elections, the Congress had emerged as the single largest party, winning 17 seats, but the BJP had pipped them to power after roping in the support of regional parties and independent MLAs. In the 2022 elections, the MGP joined hands with the Trinamool Congress, while the Goa Forward Party (GFP) entered into a pre-poll alliance with the Congress.
