Congress chief whip in Lok Sabha Jyotiraditya Scindia, actors Nagma and Raza Murad are among the 40 star campaigners that Maharashtra Congress has named for the upcoming elections to 25 zilla parishads (ZP) and nine municipal corporations, excluding Mumbai.
The Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) informed the names of the 40 star campaigners to the State Election Commission (SEC) in a letter today.Apart from Scindia, whose family hails from Western Maharashtra, actors Nagma and Raza Murad, the other names include AICC general secretary
Mohan Prakash, Maharashtra Congress president Ashok Chavan, former state chief ministers Prithviraj Chavan, Sushilkumar Shinde and Narayan Rane.
Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra Assembly Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil and deputy chairman of Legislative Council Manikrao Thakre are also among the campaigners.
Elections to ten municipal corporations, including Mumbai, Thane and Pune, will be held on February 21, while polls to 25 ZPs will be held in two phases on February 16 and 21, followed by counting of votes on February 23.
