Campaigning has gained momentum in poll bound West Bengal as the first phase of polling approaches near. Senior leaders, star campaigners and candidates of various political parties are participating in rallies, road shows and door to door campaigning in different parts of the state.
Senior BJP leader and Union Home Minister Amit Shah yesterday attended a public meeting at Khatrah of Ranibandh assembly constituency in Bankura and addressed the meeting at Jhargram virtually. Mr Shah accused the ruling TMC of corruption and reiterated that BJP will come into power in Bengal.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari also addressed two public rallies at Egra and
Ramnagar in East Medinipur yesterday.
On the other hand, TMC chief and the Chief Minister of the state Mamata Banerjee addressed rallies at Jhaldah and Balarampur in Purulia from a wheelchair. She accused BJP of doing divisive politics.
Abhishek Banerjee addressed two rallies at Danton and Chandrakona and participated in a road show in West Medinipur.
Candidates of CPIM and Congress were also seen campaigning in the districts for the first phase of assembly elections.
30 seats across five districts will be going for polls in the first phase on 27th of this month.
