Campaigning has intensified for assembly elections in Maharashtra. The Congress has announced five guarantees in the state as part of its manifesto for the Assembly polls yesterday. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi unveiled the guarantees including 3,000 per month to women, free bus travel for women and girls apart from loan waiver and incentives for farmers.
Prime Minister and Senior BJP leader Narendra Modi will kick-start the political campaign for the Maharashtra Assembly election today. In the coming seven days, Mr. Modi is expected to address public meetings in Dhule, Nashik, Akola, Nanded, Chandrapur, Chimur, Solapur, Pune, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Navi Mumbai, and
Mumbai.
Union Minister and BJP leader Nitin Gadkari will address 50 public meetings in the state in the coming eight days. Deputy Chief Minister and National President of Nationalist Congress Party Ajit Pawar will be campaigning in Anushaktinagar and Govandi today. The Shiv Sena(UBT) is going to release its election manifesto today. Shiv Sena(UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray will release the manifesto in the presence of important party leaders.
Meanwhile, Agencies under the Election Commission have seized Rs. 280 crores worth of cash, freebies, liquor, drugs, and precious metals in the state since the announcement of elections.
