Sixty-six per cent polling has been recorded for the second phase of Lok Sabha elections. Ninety-five Parliamentary constituencies, spread over 11 States and one Union Territory, went to polls in this phase on Thursday.
Briefing media in New Delhi, Senior Deputy Election Commissioner Umesh Sinha said, polling in this phase in 95 constituencies spread over 11 states and one union territory, was peaceful. He said, people, came out in
large numbers to exercise their franchise.
Puducherry recorded the highest 78 per cent voting, followed by 76.07 per cent in West Bengal. In Tamil Nadu, where 38 of the total 39 seats went to polls, 72 per cent voters cast their votes.
Voting also took place for 35 Assembly seats in Odisha and 18 in Tamil Nadu. 64 per cent polling was recorded for both Lok Sabha and Assembly election in Odisha.
