UP: As explained, in an attempt to increase voter turnout, the principal of a college in Lucknow has come up with a unique idea. He has promised to reward 10 marks to the students whose parents vote in the remaining phases of Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.

Rakesh Kumar, principal of Lucknow’s Christ Church College, claimed that the move is aimed at increasing voter turnout, as well as lending a helping hand to weaker students.

“We will reward 10 marks to the students whose parents will actively participate in

polling by casting votes on February 23 (and further). Through this, we aim to bring voters’ turnout to 100 per cent. It'll also help weak students pass exams," Rakesh Kumar was quoted as saying by the media.

The Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2022, which began from February 10, will be held in seven phases. The fourth phase of UP Assembly election is scheduled to take place on Wednesday (February 23). The seventh and final phase of polling will be held on March 7.

The counting of votes will take place on March 10.
