In Maharashtra, the campaign for the legislative assembly elections ended last evening. The polling for 288 seats will be held in a single phase on the 20th of this month. The silence period has begun in the state where canvassing in any form is being prohibited for the next 48
hours.
The Chief Electoral Office said that those who violate section 126 of the People’s Representative Act 1951 will have to face strict action which includes two years imprisonment, penalty or in certain cases both imprisonment and penalty at the same time.
