In Kerala, the month-long public campaign for the by-poll to the Wayanad Parliamentary constituency and the Chelakkara reserved constituency came to an end last evening.

Candidates and leaders joined party workers in the grand finale or kottikalasam in the two constituencies that go to the poll on Wednesday.

A festive atmosphere prevailed in the constituencies as party workers and supporters carrying flags, balloons and placards danced to the rhythmic beating of drums.

In Wayanad, UDF candidate Priyanka Gandhi yesterday roadshows at Sultan Battery and Thiruvambady along with the leader of the Opposition



in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi. LDF candidate Sathyan Mokeri’s campaign ended in Kalpetta, while NDA candidate Navya Haridas toured Kalpetta and Mananthavady areas before wrapping up her campaign in Sultan Battery.

In the Chelakkara reserved constituency also, a similar festive atmosphere prevailed as the campaign reached its crescendo last night.

Bye-election to the Palakkad assembly constituency, which has been deferred by the Election Commission, will be held on the 20th of this month. The counting of votes in all three constituencies will be taken up on the 23rd.
