Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi addressed an election rally yesterday in Nahan, Sirmaur district, under the Shimla parliamentary seat of Himachal Pradesh. He campaigned in favor of Congress candidate Vinod Sultanpuri. The Congress leader said that this election is the first in history where the Congress is fighting to protect the Constitution.
He mentioned that despite the severe disaster that hit the state last year, no assistance was received from the center. The Sukhu government in the state requested ₹9,000 crores from the center, but that amount has not yet been received. He added that despite the poor financial condition of the state, the
Congress government under the leadership of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, in its first cabinet meeting, granted the old pension scheme to 1.36 lakh government employees.
Meanwhile, BJP leaders in Delhi are working to block the ₹9,000 crore of NPS. With this money, the Congress government has increased the daily wages under MGNREGA by ₹60 to ₹300 and has made provisions for free treatment for elderly people over 70 years.
Following this, Rahul Gandhi will address an election rally in Una under the Hamirpur parliamentary constituency.
