The first phase polling will take place tomorrow in 73 Assembly constituencies of 15 districts. Total 840 candidates are in the fray and in which nearly 2 crore 59 lakh voters are eligible to cast their votes. Among them 1 crore 17 lakh voters are women and more than fifteen hundred voters identified themselves as third gender.
An elaborate arrangements have been made in all poll bound districts including Meerut,Bagpat, Hathras, Gaziabad.In Meerut , alone more than 24 lakh 46 thousand voters will decide fate of 72 candidates contesting from 7 assembly constituencies. Total 1 thousand and 181 polling centres have
been made for tomorrow's election. About 20 thousand central paramilitary force and other police forces have already been deployed in the district.
District election officer DK Singh said that out of 887 polling centres in Muzaffarnagar, around six hundred are critical where video cameras will be installed to maintain the strict vigil. However a total of sixty companies of paramilitary forces would be deployed in all the polling centres at Muzaffarnagar and Shamli to instill a sense of fearlessness among masses especially with focus on the areas which had witnessed communal riots in 2013.
