All arrangements in place for smooth conduct of polls in UP

Preparations are in full swing for the smooth conduct of polls for the sixth phase of Uttar Pradesh and first phase of Manipur Assembly elections. Campaigning for these phases in both the states ended yesterday.

In Uttar Pradesh, voting will be held in 49 constituencies spread over 7 districts of eastern region. The districts include Maharajganj, Kushinagar, Gorakhpur, Deoria, Azamgarh, Mau and Ballia.



Polling personnel and security forces are being rushed to their respective polling stations.

In Manipur, Polling for the first phase will be held on Saturday for thirty eight assembly constituencies spread across six districts. Eastern Army Commander Lt Gen Praveen Bakshi is on a two-day visit to review the security situation. Lt Gen Bakshi, arrived in Imphal on Wednesday.
