Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati claimed that she would not form a government if her party was not voted with a majority.
“The voting trend in first phase clearly pointed that we were coming to power. But let me clarify that in case, we fall short of majority, I will prefer to sit in Opposition than going in for a post-poll alliance,” asserted Mayawati while addressimng rallies in Kanpur and Lucknow on Tuesday.
“The BSP is the real well wisher of minorities. I will not let them down in this election by making any kind of compromise,” she added.Mayawati was trying to clear doubts created by her arch rival Akhilesh Yadav, that the BSP chief would go in for an alliance with the BJP in case she failed to get a majority.
The BSP chief said that she has always stood by values and the people trust her words as she has never changed her decisions by comprising with her values.``The Bharatiya Janta Party should stop dreaming of coming to power as Dalits, minorities and other sections of the society have voted for the BSP to get a government where rule of law was above everyone,” the former UP chief minister said.
She reminded people about
the peaceful atmosphere during her regime and how all hardened criminals were put behind bars. Interestingly in Lucknow, Mayawati also replied to Modi’s charge that the SP-BSP had a tacit pact on corruption. ``I got the recruitment scam and other corrupt issues of SP probed when I came to power in 2012”, she refuted.
Mayawati also attacked the Samajwadi Party saying, “ Besides the `jungle raj’ and 500 riots in the last five years, there is no rule of law and criminals were having a field day in Akhilesh raaj. Land and mining mafia had patronage of the government,” she charged.
Attacking Narendra Modi over the promises in the BJP’s manifesto, Mayawati said that the BJP is in power at the Centre and what was stopping them from waiving of farmers’ loans. ``You all should remain cautious from BJP leaders and Narendra Modi as they just cheat people by handing out false assurances and later forget them,” Mayawati stressed.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi only indulges in gimmicks like surgical strike, demonetisation etc to divert public attention from all round failure of the Central government,” asserted the BSP chief.
