Polling is being held today for the Alapur Assembly constituency in Ambedkar Nagar of Uttar Pradesh and Karnaprayag in Uttarakhand. Voting, which began at 7 AM, will end at 5 PM.
Elections in Alapur were postponed due to the death of a Samajwadi Party candidate, while in Karnaprayag, they were delayed following a BSP candidate's demise.
Yesterday, voting was held for the final phase of Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh and Manipur. Uttar Pradesh recorded an over 60 percent voter turnout in the seventh and final
phase, while 86 percent polling was reported in Manipur in the second and final phase.
After today's polling, voting process will conclude for all the five states - Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Goa and Manipur. The counting of votes will be taken up on Saturday.
The exit polls can be telecast after 5.30 PM today, 30 minutes after polling ends in the two constituencies.According to election laws, exit polls can be telecast half-an-hour after the end of polling in all the phases and states.
