Shivpal Yadav contesting from his pocket burrough of Jaswantnagar in Etawah, seems to be in deep trouble. This was indicated by none other than senior SP leader and minister Azam Khan on Wednesday.
“Shivpal Yadav will have to work hard to win this Assembly election. Netaji (Mulayam Singh Yadav) had campaigned in Jaswant Nagar only to help his brother and unite the party cadre there,’’ said Khan after casting his vote in Rampur on Wednesday.
Asked whether he would campaign for Shivpal, Khan said, “I will certainly go to Jaswant Nagar if invited. It’s also possible that my campaign may hurt the electoral equation of the candidates.”Shivpal Yadav is seeking re-election from Jaswant Nagar seat for a fifth consecutive term. All is still not well within the first family of Samajwadi Party which was evident
when Shivpal after filing his nominations in second week of January had said that he would float a new party after the elections.
Later elder brother and SP patron Mulayam Singh sought to downplay the matter saying, “Shivpal might have said this in a fit of anger and no inferences be drawn from his statement.”
Khan denied that he ever compared Prime Minister Narendra Modi with Ravana. “How can I compare Ravana with the Prime Minister as Ravana was a ‘mahapandit’ (great scholar). We are still in the dark about the genuinity of the degrees of the PM. Hence there can be no such comparision.’’
Countering the charge by the PM that ‘not kaam but karnama’ of Akhilesh Yadav was speaking for the state government, Azam Khan said, “Modi ka na to kaam bolta hai na hi karnama.”
