NEW DELHI: Rio Olympic Olympic silver medallist PV Sindhu is all set to play against Spain's Carolina Marin in the quarter-final of the Singapore Open Super Series that will take place on Friday.
The tournament has begun and the Sindhu-Marin match is slated to be the fifth match of the day.
On the other hand, Kidambi Srikanth is ready to face off Shi Yuqi of China and Sai Praneeth will play against Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk of Thailand in the men's singles quarter-final. The reports revealed that doubles pair of Ashwini Ponnappa and Sumeeth Reddy will play against Chinese pair Lu Kai

and Huang Yaqiong.
Be that as it may, everyone's eyes will be on the match amongst Sindhu and Marin as the two champions confront each other for the third time since the Rio Olympics standoff in which Marin had risen triumphant. Sindhu has the edge over the Spaniard having beaten her in the two experiences after Rio - Dubai Masters in December and the India Open summit conflict prior this month. At the year-finishing Dubai World Superseries Finals, Sindhu brought down Marin 21-17, 21-13. At the Indian Open, Sindhu vanquished Marin in an imperious manner with a 21-19, 21-16 win.
