The four-day 17th Sub-junior National Wushu Championship began in Jammu today.The national level sports event is being organised in the winter capital city of Jammu by the the Wushu Association of India in collaboration with J&K State Sports Council at MA Stadium.
The championship was formally declared open by the J&K Youth Services and Sports Minister Imran Raza Ansari during the inaugural ceremony at Police auditorium Jammu this evening.
About 37 teams comprising of over one thousand boys and girls from across
the country and 12 boys from Army are participating in the national championship.Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Ansari expressed hope that organising of such sports events of national level in J&K would inspire the youth of the State to hone their talent and contribute to the development of the nation.
He said that present PDP-BJP government in the State with full support from the Centre has been making all-out efforts to bring the youth of the State at the centre of all competitions for their overall development.
