At the World Badminton championships in Glasgow, another Indian Ajay Jayaram has made it to the last 16 of the Men's Singles. Jayaram defeated Mark Caljouw of the Netherlands 21-13, 21-18 to enter the quarterfinals. Three out of four Indian players have made their way into the pre-quarterfinals.
In other men's singles pre-quarterfinals, Kadambi Srikanth will face 14th seed Anders Antonsen of Denmark today while Singapore Open champion B Sai Praneeth will next take on Chinese Taipei's Chou Tien Chen and Ajay Jayaram will clash with the Chinese Chen Long.
In the women's
singles pre-quarterfinal event today, Saina Nehwal will clash in with the second seed Sung Ji Hyun of South Korean who defeated India's Tanvi Lad 21-9 21-19. Saina has a 7-2 head-to-head record against the Korean and most recently she beat her at the Australian Open in June.
Earlier, Saina brushed aside the challenge of Sabrina Jaquet of Switzerland in straight games 21-11, 21-12, Praneeth overcame Anthony Sinisuka Ginting of Indonesia in three games 14-21 21-18 21-19, and World No. 8 Srikanth steamrolled France's Lucas Corvee in straight games 21-9 21-17.
