Australia beat
Denmark 1-nil at Al-Janoub Stadium while Tunisia stunned defending champions France 1-0 at the Education City Stadium in the group D encounters.
From Group D, Australia has joined France in the Round of 16 with a 1-0 win over Denmark. Mathew Leckie's goal in the 60th minute guided Australia to reach the Round of 16 for the second time in their World Cup history.
Wahbi Khazri scored the solitary goal of the game in the 58th minute as Tunisia registered a historic 1-0 victory over France, but it was not enough for them to reach the last 16. Because Australia finished second in the table with six points while the African nation finished in third place with four points.
Meanwhile, France has topped the table with six points with two wins and a loss. France already qualified for the knockout stages following Saturday’s victory over Denmark. After a draw with Denmark in their opener, Tunisia lost to Australia in their second match.
