Indian athletes who are all set to leave for the Birmingham Commonwealth Games were given a send-off ceremony on Thursday, 7 July.
The ministry of sports and Youth Affairs along with IOA gave a send off to CWG bound players in Delhi. This time around 215 athletes to participate in CWG in different sports events. In 16 disciplines, including para sports, there will be 108 men and 107 females and a total of 215 athletes will be fighting for medals.

Association has also made an announcement about medals for medalist at CWG. Medal winners in three categories will be given cash prize. The gold medal winners will be given Rs 20 lakh, silver medal winners will get 10 lakh, and the bronze medal winners will be awarded with 7.5 lakh by the government.
Tokyo Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra is likely to be the flag bearer for CWG IOA is checking his availability for the opening ceremony. If he is available then he will be named flag bearer for the event.
