In Badminton, Indian women's doubles pair of Ashwini Ponnappa and Tanisha Crasto progressed to the pre-quarterfinals of the Hong Kong Open Super 500 tournament at Kowloon in Hong Kong on Wednesday (13 September 2023).

Tanisha and Ashwini beat Chinese Taipei's Lee Chia Hsin and Teng Chun Hsun 21-19 21-19 to set up a clash with the top-seeded Japanese duo of Mayu Matsumoto



and Wakana Nagahara.

Meanwhile, Lakshya Sen withdrew from the tournament due to a slight strain in his back. However, another singles competitor from India, Priyanshu Rajawat also bowed out in the first round following a straight games loss to Japan's Kanta Tsuneyama by a scoreline of 13-21, 14-21.
