Asian Games champion in Men’s Shot Put, Bahadur Singh Sagoo, has been elected as the new President of the Athletics Federation of India (AFI). It was announced during the two-day Annual General Assembly Meeting of the federation, which started in Chandigarh yesterday. Bahadur Singh will succeed the outgoing President Adille Sumariwalla, who has been serving as AFI President since 2012. The new
athletics chief will have his hands full, with India set to host the World Athletics Continental Tour level event for the first time on the 10th of August.
Meanwhile, Sandeep Mehta, who previously held the position of senior joint secretary, was elected as the secretary of the body during the Annual General Meeting.
