India continued their sensational rise in men's badminton events reaching the final of the Asian Games for the first time in the history of the competition. India defeated a strong Korea team in a thriller in Hangzhou on Saturday, 30 September.
It went down to the wire with Kidambi Srikanth fighting till the end to secure India's position in the final of the match. Things were tied 2-2 after India lost their second men's doubles match in the semi-final
and it was left to Srikanth to beat world no. 163 Cho Geonyeop.
Things might have looked easy for world no. 21 Srikanth, but that turned out to be far from the truth after Cho won the first game 21-12 with ease. Srikanth grew into the game and hit back with a 21-16 victory and then won the final game 21-14 to seal the deal for India.
This is the same Indian badminton team that rose to fame after their Thomas Cup victory in 2022.
