India's top-ranked women's singles player Ankita Raina is a win away from earning her maiden Grand Slam main draw berth as she progressed to the final round of Australian Open 2021 qualifiers in Dubai on Tuesday.
In a match that extended over 2 hours and 20 minutes, Ankita Raina clinched a 3-set win, overcoming a second-set lapse against world number 118 Katarina Zavatska. Raina won the 2nd round qualifying match 6-2, 2-6, 6-3 against the Ukranian.

In her sixth attempt, Ankita is bidding to become only the 3rd women's singles player from India to enter the main draw of Grand Slam. Only Nirupama Vaidyanathan and Sania Mirza have competed in the women's singles main draw of a Grand Slam from India to date.
Meanwhile, men's singles players Prajnesh Gunneswaran and Ramkumar Ramanathan bowed out in the second round qualifying.
