Nick Kyrgios said winning Grand Slam titles one after the other like the Big 3 requires a lot of hard work, adding that he is not cut-out for such a ''hard lifestyle". Kyrgios said he would definitely retire from professional tennis when he wins his first Grand Slam title.

Nick Kyrgios, who reached the final of Wimbledon last year, had hinted in the past that winning one Grand Slam might be enough for him to hang up his boots. When asked if he really meant so, Kyrgios replied in the affirmative, adding he wants to be relaxed in his life.

Kyrgios has already won a doubles title with compatriot Thanasi Kokkinakis at the Australian Open in 2022. He reached the final of Wimbledon only to lose to Novak Djokovic last year before reaching the quarter-final at US Open in what was a breakthrough year for the highly-rated Australian star.

Kyrgios, known for his mercurial style, came up with a heartwarming on-court interview after winning an exhibition match at Melbourne Park against Djokovic on Friday, January

13.

When asked if he would retire after winning a singles Grand Slam title, as mentioned before, Kyrgios replied: "100 percent! It is a lot of training and a lot of work".

"I just want to be able to eat whatever I want and drink what I want to drink, and just relax. It is a hard lifestyle," he added.

Kyrgios said he is hopeful of putting in the hard work and emulating what he did on the tour last season.

The 30-year-old missed Australia's United Cup campaign due to an injury. The home favourite will open his Australian Open campaign against Roman Safiullin of Russia. He is likely to face 9th seed Holger Rune in the 3rd round before a potential quarter-final clash against Djokovic.

"The dedication that these guys show day in and day out... I did a bit of that last year and had a great year to show that I am still one of the best.

"I am going to try and do it this year, and hopefully I can do it, but it will be hard."
