Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Nizamuddin Chowdhury yesterday said the board will amicably settle the 11-point demands raised by the cricketers.
Speaking to the media in Dhaka yesterday after the announcement of a strike by the national players, he said that the players are yet to communicate with the BCB. He further said that BCB is sincere in resolving the issues and there is nothing to be worried about.
Earlier in the day national cricketers of Bangladesh had announced that they will boycott all cricketing activities till their 11 point charter of demands is not met. The cricketers have demanded that there should be no cap on domestic tournament under Dhaka Premier League,
going back to franchise system for Bangladesh Premier League, better remuneration for first-class cricket matches among others.
The three-match T-20 series and two Test matches with India is scheduled to start from November 3. The announcement of strike casts uncertainty over the series.
The discontent among the Bangladeshi cricketers has been brewing after the Bangladesh Cricket Board announced that it will scrap the franchise-based model for Bangladesh Premier League matches. This would lead to a sharp reduction in the earning of the players. Moreover, the BCB did not raise the match fee for the first-class competition causing resentment among the players.
