Melbourne Stars registered a comfortable 6-wicket win over Brisbane Heat on Friday with Nathan Coulter-Nile and Glenn Maxwell playing the starring roles in the 2nd match of the Big Bash League 2020-21.
Put into bat, Brisbane got bowled out for 125 in 19.5 overs with Coulter-Nile bagging 4 wickets for 10 runs from his 3.5 overs while Dilbar Hussain grabbed a couple from 4 overs. Tom Cooper's 26 was the highest score for the team.
Hilton Cartwright and Glenn Maxwell then made 46 runs each as Melbourne reached the target in 17.1 overs, losing just 4 wickets in the process.
Jack Wood was the pick of the Brisbane bowlers with 2 wickets for 28 runs while Matthew Kuhnemann
and Xavier Bartlett took one each.
The win helped Melbourne Stars take top position on the points table followed by Hobart Hurricanes, who beat the defending champions Sydney Sixers in the opening game on Thursday.
"It was nice! Good win. It was clinical. I'm surprised we had so many blokes bowling but Maxy likes to change it up. It probably wasn't a 126 wicket, but it was harder than we thought to score.
"Having bowlers who can bat helped. I have no idea what the plans are, I just rock up on the day and do what I'm told. On the board early. Nice to get the points, nice to get all the points," Coulter-Nile said on Channel Seven after being adjudged Player of the Match.
