Wrestler Vinesh Phogat will have to wait 72 hours more for a decision over her plea to the Court of Arbitration of Sports (CAS). The CAS has extended time till Aug 13, 9:30 PM (IST) for the Sole Arbitrator Honourable Dr Annabelle Bennett to issue a decision on Vinesh Phogat vs. United World Wrestling & the International Olympic Committee matter.
The extension came late in the evening on Saturday, 10 August from the CAS, who were expected to announce their decision by 9:30 PM,
delayed it by 72 hours. This is expected to be the final extension as the committee as the Olympic Games will close on 11 August. While the CAS was expected to announce the decision before the closure of the Paris Olympics, the CAS has handed both parties an extension till August 11 to submit any additional proof.
Usually, a 24-hour time limit is given to the ad-hoc panel to make a verdict. However, for this particular case, this is the second time extension that the panel has asked for.
