Brendon Taylor on Friday became the batsman with the most number of international hundreds for Zimbabwe surpassing Andy Flower's 16 centuries but Wahab Riaz and Shaheen Afridi bailed out Pakistan in the 1st ODI in Rawalpindi.
Taylor and Wesley Madhevere frustrated Pakistan and their 119-run partnership for the fifth wicket and seemed to have taken the match away from Pakistan. However, Riaz returned in the 46th over to dismiss Madhevere (55), and together with Afridi
cleaned up Zimbabwe's tail.
Earlier, Pakistan rode on a late blitz from all-rounder Imad Wasim and Haris Sohail's gutsy 71 to post 281 with two wickets to spare. For Zimbabwe, Blessing Muzarabani and Tendai Chisoro took two wickets each, while, Carl Mumba and Pakistan-born Sikander Raza took one wicket each to restrict Pakistan to 281. Faheem Ashraf and Imad Wasim, batting at seven and eight, then chipped in with useful scores to pilot the home team past the 250-run mark.
