Afghanistan crumbled to their 2nd lowest total in ODI cricket on Tuesday, 22 August while playing against Pakistan in the 1st ODI of their 3-match bilateral series. Chasing just 202 runs against Babar Azam's side, Afghanistan failed to get their head up against the pace trio of Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah and most importantly, Haris Rauf.
The Pakistan pace trio made the Afghanistan batting line-up panic during the chase and dismissed four of their batter inside the first 10 overs of the chase. After losing the top order to poor shots, the rest of the Afghanistan batting order got some
real jaffas from the pace attack and were bowled out for just 59 runs - their second-lowest total in ODI cricket.
Four of the Afghanistan players registered ducks - including opener Ibrahim Zadran, No. 3 Rahmat Shah and captain Hashmatullah Shahidi. Rahmanullah Gurbaz top scored with 18 off 47 balls, while Azmatullah Omarzai hit 16 off 12 before getting retired hurt.
Earlier Afghanistan had registered their lowest ODI total against Scotland back in their early days of international cricket - in 2016. On the day, Haris Rauf registered his best figures 5/18 in the ODI format.
