The Pakistan Cricket Board has confirmed Abu Dhabi as the new host for the remaining matches of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2021 after getting all the "approvals and exemptions" required to stage the competition in the United Arab Emirates.
PCB had suspended the sixth edition of its most popular domestic T20 competition in March after 7 individuals, including 6 players, tested positive for Covid-19 in Karachi. The franchises then urged the board to stage rest of the tournament
in the UAE due to the pandemic crisis in Pakistan.
The board has since held multiple talks with the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) and the UAE government to hold the remaining 20 matches in Dubai and Abu Dhabi from June 1.
"We are delighted with this development as the remaining hurdles in the staging of the remaining HBL PSL 6 matches in Abu Dhabi have been overcome and all systems are now good to go," Wasim Khan, the PCB chief executive, said in a statement.
