Afghanistan knocked out five-time champions Sri Lanka last night with a superb 91-run win at Abu Dhabi. Opting to bat, Afghanistan had scored 249 in the stipulated 50 overs courtesy brilliant innings of 72 by Rahmat Shah.
The Afghans then produced a powerful performance with the ball as they bundled out Sri Lanka for just 158 in 41.2 overs. Rashid
Khan, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Gulbadin Naib and Mohammad Nabi bagged 2 wickets each. Rahmat Shah was adjudged man of the match.
It was Sri Lanka's second consecutive defeat. They had lost to Bangladesh by 137 runs in the opening game. Defending champions India will begin their campaign against Hong Kong today.
