Nepal spinner Sandeep Lamichhane said on Saturday that he has tested positive for Covid-19 after suffering body ache from Wednesday. The leg-spinner, who plied his trade for Delhi Capitals, said he is recovering well over the last few days.
"It's my sincere duty to tell you all that I have been tested positive for COVID-19. I have had some body aches since Wednesday. But my health is improving a little bit now. If all goes well, I will return to the field again. Keep me in your prayers," Lamichhane said in a social media post.
Lamichhane was with the Delhi Capitals squad at Indian Premier League 2020 in the UAE. Despite doing well for the
franchise in the past, Lamicchane did not get an opportunity to take the field for Delhi, who reached the final in Dubai.
Lamichhane's positive Covid-19 test comes weeks ahead of Big Bash League 2020-21. The Nepal spinner signed up for Hobart Hurricanes for the upcoming season of BBL, December 10.
Lamichhane has played two seasons in the BBL, making a mark for Melbourne Stars. His combination with Australia leg-spinner Adam Zampa proved to be successful for the side in the past.
Lamichhane has featured in 21 T20Is, 10 ODis for Nepal. The 20-year-old spinner has picked up 57 wickets in international cricket. He has 5 wickets from 3 matches in the IPL.
