Dubai: India’s stand-in skipper Rohit Sharma (111 runs) along with Shikhar Dhawan (114 runs) played match-winning knocks to guide their country to a dominant nine-wicket win against Pakistan in their Asia Cup Super Four match on Sunday.

Rohit and Dhawan put up a 210-run partnership for the only wicket India lost as the Men in Blue chased the target of 238 in just 39.3 overs.
Not only was this Rohit’s 19th ODI century, but also he achieved a memorable feat en route to his unbeaten knock of 111 runs.

The 31-year-old became the ninth Indian to go past 7000 ODI runs and the third fastest from his country to

do so.

Rohit needed just 94 runs to reach the milestone, and the win was one more reason to celebrate.

While he took 181 innings to his landmark, only Virat Kohli (161) and Sourav Ganguly (174) have achieved this much quicker.

The other Indians to do so are Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Mohammad Azharuddin, Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni.

The Men in Blue, who now have four wins in as many matches, will next face Afghanistan in their final Super Four encounter here on Tuesday. The final of the tournament will be held on Friday.
