Former India captain Virat Kohli became only the second batter in the world to surpass 3500 T20I runs after Rohit Sharma while playing against Afghanistan on Thursday, 9 September.
Sent to bat first, Kohli opened in the absence for Rohit Sharma and hit a brisk half century, in the process reaching his feat. The batter has shown signs of getting back to form and has hit three half centuries in the
ongoing Asia Cup, becoming the first batter to surpass 200 runs in the tournament.
The former India captain combined with KL Rahul, to put together 119 runs for the first wicket. Both batters reached their respective half centuries, giving Indian their first century partnership in the tournament. India and Afghanistan are currently engaged in a dead rubber, after getting knocked out of the tournament.
